Brett Titus

Brett Titus has been communicating and training dogs for over 30 years. He has trained hundreds of pets at the world renowned Alameda East Veterinary Hospital, and trained or lectured to thousands of the top Police/Military K9 teams across the country.

Brett has also achieved some of the highest levels in the sport of Schutzhund. Competing in dozens of competitions, he is one of few that has taken four separate breeds to 11 National Championships as well as qualifying and competing in the Deutsche Meisterschaft (Championship in Germany). Being selected as a decoy for three National Championships has given him experience on both ends of the leash.

Working for a major Police Department in Colorado, he has been assigned to a full time S.W.A.T. team as a K9 handler since 1999.  With over 2500 tactical deployments with hundreds of K9 apprehensions, Brett’s training comes from real world experience.

The TacDogs Training Program was developed in 2009.  Prior to 2009, he collaborated with the right tactical minds and began to change his own training methods, then deployment strategies.  This made Brett, his K9 partner, and his team, safer tactically, and more efficient and reliable during deployments.

With growth there is change, and over the years, he has consulted with other K9 handlers and highly respected military minds to update the program to 10 step-by-step disciplines.

Brett has an approachable, no-nonsense, “ego checked at the door”, philosophy to teaching.  He quotes himself in his lecture, “This is not THE way, it’s A way”.  He lives by what he teaches everyday that he goes to work and knows he and his partner are the tip of the spear for their team.  He lives everyday by the phrase, “Paws Before Boots.”-Dan Delmonico 2009.
